Brand Value Growth

Day 10 🌴 I would like to apply the growth principles in microorganisms to value growth in brands, it follows this order: lag phase, log phase, stationary and decline phase.   When microorganisms are cultured in agar with adequate nutrient, and sufficient supply of all their growth factors, they first utilise or let's say get used to the agar that is the lag phase . Upon successful interaction they grow rapidly in the agar this is the log phase.    Due to the fact that nutrient is not being replaced as used the growth hit the stationary phase and as time goes on, they experience decline in their growth.   Brand Value growth follows this order too, only, you can keep adding value to avoid the stationary and decline phase. When a growth journey starts, it most likely feels like it isn't yielding results, but as time goes on you begin to see exponential returns on your investment, but if you stop adding value, the stationary phase sets in and in ...

Brand logo design

Day 6🌴   Today I featured a brand logo designer to get their own point of view when designing a brand logo, but before we go on, there are things that wouldn't make your logo distinct as a brand, one of it is using your initials. Let's say, your brand name is Dennis creative, you decide to use DC and there's another brand with Debbie clothings using the same initials, the whole idea of being identified with your logo as been scrapped. Same applies for using your business tool, tailors using scissors or needle and thread and bakers using this chef cap. I'm sure we see it everyday and I've come to believe they are general logos for particular industries.  Now to the core of today's lesson, choosing a designer that understands your brand, a designer that believes in your brand vision and mission and can work around it.    As a designer, these are the things Fathiu Olayemi look out for when designing a brand logo. I consider a brands mission, vision, ho...

Self awareness!

Day 5🌴 One of the major things that guides everything pertaining to a brand, business or personal is self awareness.   Self awareness in basic terms is knowing what works for you and what doesn't. It is what makes you productive or makes you the best version of your self, what you enjoy doing and how well you can do something or to what length you would go to achieve a particular feat.       Self awareness guides a lot of decisions you would make as a brand from your identity, contents to stakeholders. For example, can you write contents for your brand? Do you want to write for your brand? or would you rather someone else do it? Do you prefer creating video contents or designing? What's your coping mechanism when stressed? Can you work under pressure? Are you the planning type? Or is impromtu the way? Answering these questions will inform your time management. Another sets of questions you should have answers to is, who can I work with? Can I...

Brand identity!

Day 4🌴 Brand identity is how people notice your brand, it's also how they remember your brand. Brand identity is built by consistently owning a feature, could be a color, voice, logo, your face, tagline, name or nickname.    Brand identity doesn't have to communicate what you do, for example, First Bank, their brand logo is somewhat an elephant, it doesn't in any way relate to keeping money, this particular feature differentiates them from Access Bank which uses a logo, I can't put another name aside Access Bank to. Whenever I see both bank's logo without their names, I remember the banks. These logos are: Simple Distinct: it's particular to both brands  Appropriate    These brands also have colors that are specific to them. Building brand identity with color can be tricky at times because colors are somewhat limited. In some cases two brands use the same color and we still find a way to relate it to them only, as in First Bank uses the color blue,...

Brand ideation!

Day 3 🌴   Having established what branding is, you are probably wondering how to get that idea you would brand or more like what do you have to brand. Before I continue, I need to tell you that more than one brand can stem out of you, you are that endowed for good works. It's although easier to get idea for a business brand, because, you are choosing what to sell, not necessarily creating something new, then adding your own touch here and there.    Building a personal brand on the other hand, needs a lot of thinking and clarity before setting out. But it also doesn't mean you have to go look for something new someone, you just have to look inwards. Before I continue I will like to reiterate the fact that you don't have to choose a part of you to brand, you can bring you all out and connect the dots and brand.    For example, Orifunke Lawal, she is a believer, runs an academy where she teaches hard skills, like content creation, desi...

The Basics of branding!

Day 2 🌴 " Any organization wanting to add value to day-to-day process and cost, needs to think of itself as a brand " Rita Clifton    Against the popular belief of "not everyone has a brand" we all do. Why? A brand is not only its product or what it is offering per se.   A brand is a sum of your identity, everything your customers or prospective customers feel, think, say, hear, read, watch, imagine, suspect or even hope about your product, service or organization.  A brand is the Perception or conclusions people make when they interact with you or your products.    Branding then is the process of building your brand or let's say identity. It's not leaving people's perception, opinion or deductions of you or your business to chance but consciously and consistently shaping the Perception you want. Using Aproko doctor as an example, he has consciously and consistently shaped our perception of him to be a health practitioner, or Ife of D...

The rules of starting!

Day 1 🌴 " One of the riskiest things you can do in life is to take too many precautions…" John Mason        Do you already have an idea? Have you written it down? Gained clarity in bits? Planned towards birthing the idea then you don't need any other rules, you are good to go!    Let me guess, you were expecting rule  #1 Wash your hands #2  Open the door e.t.c Is there one thing I've learnt over time, it's the fact that you can't have it all figured out in the beginning, you just have to set the ball rolling and stay through the process. That would be because a lot of factors can be attached to that business idea or purpose you want to launch into that are beyond your control.     An example of that would be the people factor, you can't control people from the onset, you don't know how their decisions will affect you, you don't even know the road they would take. So in essence, " Trying to figure it all ou...
