The rules of starting!
Day 1 🌴
"One of the riskiest things you can do in life is to take too many precautions…"
John Mason
Do you already have an idea? Have you written it down? Gained clarity in bits? Planned towards birthing the idea then you don't need any other rules, you are good to go!
Let me guess, you were expecting rule
#1 Wash your hands
#2 Open the door e.t.c
Is there one thing I've learnt over time, it's the fact that you can't have it all figured out in the beginning, you just have to set the ball rolling and stay through the process. That would be because a lot of factors can be attached to that business idea or purpose you want to launch into that are beyond your control.
An example of that would be the people factor, you can't control people from the onset, you don't know how their decisions will affect you, you don't even know the road they would take. So in essence, " Trying to figure it all out from the beginning is actually not starting at all"
Although, there are no particular rules, there are few things you should keep in mind as you start:
It might not play out as the script in your head: it's very normal for us to get really high in our imaginations regarding what we want to see, but from the onset it might feel like you are drumming for the air. Get your hopes high, it's actually a drive, but if it doesn't play as planned don't beat yourself up to it.
There are possibilities that you will make mistakes the first, second and third time, but how else would you learn. Mistakes are part of building, they help me understand what is and what is not. They are pointers to new directions or solutions.
Be flexible: Remember you might not have it all figured out from the onset, so be flexible, make restrategising a plan B, learn on the job and learn to take breaks.
Learn to trust your guts, trust that still voice that always have an idea or a solution.
Always be of good cheer because you have overcome the moment you started: A thing or the other will happen when at it, but if you have enough will to start then you have enough to finish.
"Everything is hard before it's easy" Goethe. The big goal is to achieve your goal, focus on that, don't be swayed by every happenstance.
If your goal is long term, don't result to short term pleasures or gratifications.
Grow with your idea: never stop learning
Pledge consistency: consistency is the game of branding
Most importantly be you: self awareness is key, discover your self and serve your uniqueness to the world.
We will together be participating in the 90 days challenge, I share and you implement. How?
Start by expounding on that idea you already have, gain the needed clarity to begin (talk to your mentor, read books e.t.c.), map out a plan, ask me questions, and learn. Let's see what we will make out if the idea in 90 days.
I'm rooting for you 🌹🌹
