The Basics of branding!

 Day 2 🌴

"Any organization wanting to add value to day-to-day process and cost, needs to think of itself as a brand"

Rita Clifton

Against the popular belief of "not everyone has a brand" we all do. Why? A brand is not only its product or what it is offering per se.

A brand is a sum of your identity, everything your customers or prospective customers feel, think, say, hear, read, watch, imagine, suspect or even hope about your product, service or organization.

A brand is the Perception or conclusions people make when they interact with you or your products.

Branding then is the process of building your brand or let's say identity. It's not leaving people's perception, opinion or deductions of you or your business to chance but consciously and consistently shaping the Perception you want.

Using Aproko doctor as an example, he has consciously and consistently shaped our perception of him to be a health practitioner, or Ife of Diary of a Naija Girl, she built a brand that helps, women especially. If these two didn't put branding to play they would be just another Instagram or Twitter user.

Branding encapsulates the emotional, physical, and mental effects interacting with you or your products and services has on a person or a targeted group of people.

A brand can be a personal as in DDK, Orifunke Lawal, Seyi Makinde, Barrack Obama e.t.c. Or Business as in Coca-Cola, GTB, Zenith bank, Apple, Google e.t.c. An individual can have one or both of personal or business brands, personal brand is mostly connected to the need to have a voice, it makes you a thought leader in your chosen field or career and can be a root for your business brand.

Business brand is building an experience around your products, it's what differents ShopRite from the store next door.

Why do you need to brand?

  • It gives you essence,

  • Relevance

  • Credibility

  • Uniqueness

  • It helps you build trust

  • It positions you for better or more opportunities.

If you are wondering where to start from, remember yesterday's idea you were to expound on, it's time to bring it out.

I am rooting for you 🌹🌹
